REMINDER:  6th, 7th, and 8th graders are all getting ready to begin new novels. Students are to have a print or electronic copy (preferably print) of the novel listed for their grade. 8th graders and 7th graders should already have acquired their books and 6th graders should seek to have theirs by the start of next week.

7th Graders:  The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt

6th Graders:  A Face First by Priscilla Cummings

REMINDER:  The Reading and Language Arts benchmark exams for 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades, originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 16th, has been re-scheduled for the following Tuesday (Nov. 22nd) in order that already planned reading and language arts assessments can be concluded beforehand. See specific tabs for details.

Please let me know if you're having difficulty accessing the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade tabs (which, of course, is where the homework details are located), as it was brought to my attention earlier today by a few students that they were having trouble doing so.  I'd like to know if this is an anomaly or a common occurrence.

6th, 7th, and 8th Graders:

Below is a list of classroom rules that I will begin strictly enforcing starting tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 20th.

Mr. Bosma's classroom rules:

1.  Be in class on time. (Then be seated and ready to work.)
2.  Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.
3.  Respect others in the way you listen, speak, and respond. (First and foremost, this means that off-task conversations during class - especially when either Mr. Bosma or a classmate is talking about a lesson/activity/task at hand - will no longer be tolerated.)
4.  Do not get up from your seat during class without first receiving permission to do so.
5.  Follow directions the first time they're given.

Consequences for violating said rules

1. Verbal warning
2. Recess conference to review rule(s) in question
3. Recess detention during which you will write a note indicating:
     a. which rule was broken
     b. what should have been done
     c.  how a different choice will be made next time.
4. The aforementioned note will be emailed home to your
parent(s)/guardian(s), and a copy will be provided to Principal Altonjy.
