Michael Bloom has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2016 New Jersey National Geographic State Geography Bee. The contest will be held at Rowan University Tohill Theater in Glassboro, NJ on Friday April 1st.
This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition. The National Geographic Society has invited 100 of the top-scoring students in New Jersey to compete in the state Bee. The state champion will receive $100, the National Geographic book, “The National Parks: An Illustrated History” a medal, and will journey to Washington D.C., to represent New Jersey at the National Geographic Bee Championship at the National Geographic Society headquarters, May 22-25, 2016. The national champion will receive a $50,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society. The national champion will also travel, all expenses paid, on a Lindbald expedition to Southeast Alaska aboard the National Geographic Sea Lion.
