This month’s AMBS Student Spotlight focuses on Charlotte L., a 5th Grader whose achievements in school are complemented by a busy list of activities. Charlotte is a member of the AMBS Student Council, has played on the school’s basketball team and has performed in several school shows. “I have participated in a lot of plays here at AMBS,” Charlotte said. “My favorite was Hairspray Jr. where I played the part of Little Inez. I had the best time! I was also in the play, A Christmas Carol Jr. at the YMCA in Wyckoff.” Her other hobbies include singing, acting and guitar-playing, as well as playing tennis, basketball and gymnastics.
Charlotte’s favorite subject is history “because I love learning about the past. It is also interesting to learn about famous people and historians who have done great things for our country. I think it is pretty great to learn how we as a country solve problems and continue to grow as a nation.”
Her teacher, Mrs. Brizzolara nominated her for the Student Spotlight because “Charlotte's perseverance and maturity have grown exponentially this first trimester of school. She makes good choices, asks good questions, and arrives at school with a mind that is open to learning. She gives her best effort in her assignments, and as a result, she shines academically. She also handles distance learning like a pro! She is one of the first to complete and turn in all assignments and has been an inquisitive and engaged participant in her classes this year, both in the school building and during video lessons.”
Charlotte herself says that she loves AMBS because “The teachers and
students are friendly and kind. I feel like AMBS is a home away from home.”
And she has tried to extend that kindness to others by helping out at Catholic Charities, creating crafts for senior citizens in Paterson.“Charlotte's friends know they can count on her, and she always finds a way to make her classmates smile,” says Mrs. Brizzolara. “Fabulous work, Charlotte!”
