Sixth grader Sean B. has already assembled a long list of activities for himself, but unique among them is the fact that he is the youngest member of the parish’s live-stream team. Director of Communications Barry Donnelly, who oversees the live-stream ministers, sees how Sean is as capable as the rest of his team, despite being its youngest member. Sean is not only comfortable with the technology, but because he knows the different parts of the Mass so well, he can adjust cameras to highlight important moments as they happen.
Beyond volunteering at the parish, Sean is extremely active at the Academy of the Most Blessed Sacrament. He is a member of the AMBS Model UN and Debate Club, the Math Club and the TREP$ program. He has also played basketball for the AMBS Spartans since second grade, and currently serves as Student Council Treasurer. His Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Ramdath says, “Sean has a great personality! He is selfless, caring, and hardworking. He is a good friend to all in his class. Whenever a helping hand is needed, he is there for you.”
Sean says his favorite subject in the classroom is math, but the best part of his AMBS experience has been “the close-knit community of fun, smart students and dedicated staff. Even during this pandemic, our school still offers community service projects and is always trying to improve our experience, both in person and virtually.”
Outside of school, Sean loves sports (especially football and basketball), cooking and traveling. He plays on the Hoop City travel basketball team, the Franklin Lakes travel basketball squad and the town football team. He recently participated in a team marathon to raise funds to prevent child trafficking and violence against children, and also supports the MBS Mug Sale fundraiser to help rebuild the church.
A wise quote from this incredible sixth grader, “Be happy…..not because everything is good, but because you can see the good in everything.”
